Frequently asked questions

Is firup free?

Yes. Playing, Quick Play, casting, Watch Together, downloads, skip intro and subtitle sync are free to use, with no subscription. An optional Firup Supporter subscription (monthly or yearly) or one-time Lifetime purchase adds profiles, kids mode, library organizing, stream filters, themes and permanent Watch Together rooms.

Does firup provide movies or shows?

No. Firup is a software utility only. It plays and organizes media you supply; it does not host, provide, archive, store, or distribute media of any kind.

Which devices are supported?

Windows 10 and 11, Android TV / Google TV, and Android phones. Linux, macOS, iPhone & iPad and LG TV are planned.

How do I sign in on my TV?

Open firup on the TV and choose Sign in. Scan the QR code with your phone, or go to firup.pages.dev/pair and type the code shown on the TV.

I forgot my password.

Choose "Forgot password?" on the sign-in page and we'll email you a reset link. Open it in the same browser you requested it from.

1. Nature of the Software

Firup is a media player and personal library organizer. Firup is a software utility only. Firup does not host, provide, archive, store, or distribute media of any kind. Playback happens on your device, using files and sources that you choose and supply.

2. Your Media and Your Sources

You decide which files, folders and network locations Firup reads from. Firup does not review, endorse, or control any media or source you configure, and it does not supply any. Firup provides descriptive information (titles, artwork, episode data) from third-party metadata providers (credited on the Copyright page) to help you organize your own library.

3. Your Responsibilities

You agree to use Firup only with media you own or are otherwise authorized to use, and to comply with the laws that apply to you. You are responsible for the media and sources you use with Firup and agree to indemnify and hold harmless Firup, its developers and contributors from claims arising from your use of the software in breach of these Terms.

4. Accounts

An account is optional and is used to sync settings, progress and profiles between your devices and to sign in TVs. Keep your password private. You can delete your account at any time.

5. Watch Together

Watch Together synchronizes playback state (play, pause, position) between participants. It does not transmit media; each participant plays their own copy on their own device.

6. Pricing and Firup Supporter

Firup is free to use. Firup Supporter is optional and is offered as a cancellable Monthly or Yearly subscription, or as a one-time Lifetime purchase. It adds software features, such as profiles, kids mode, library organizing, stream filters, themes and permanent Watch Together rooms, and funds development and infrastructure. Supporter is a software license only: it never sells, provides, or unlocks access to any media, title, stream or addon.

7. No Warranty

Firup is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, to the extent permitted by law.

1. Principles & GDPR Compliance

Firup is built on local-first principles. Your viewing habits belong to you. We do not track, profile, monetize, or sell personal data to advertisers.

2. Information We Process

  • Account: If you create an optional Firup account, we store your email address and authentication tokens with our authentication provider (Supabase) to sync your settings, profiles and progress across devices.
  • Linked devices: When you link a TV, we store the device name you see on screen so you can recognize and remove it later.
  • Local storage: Your library folder paths, downloads, watch progress and preferences are stored on your device.
  • Playback: Firup servers never inspect, record, or log the media you play.

3. Data Deletion

You may request full deletion of your account and synchronized data at any time in the app's account settings, on this website (Account → Delete account), or by emailing firup.support@gmail.com. Deleting your account also cancels any active subscription.

Firup is a software utility only and does not host, provide, archive, store, or distribute media of any kind, so there is no media on Firup's servers to remove.
